Alvis Cadamosto, as known as Luís de Cadamosto in Portuguese, is an experienced Italian sailor who hired by Portuguese Prince Henry in 15th century. In 1455, Prince Henry chose he be a captain of voyage who towards south and arrived Gambia, Madeira, Canary Islands, Senegal and Cape Verde. The stamp is commemorated him arrive Cape Verde 550th anniversary.

Nicolas Baudin (1754-1803)

Nicolas Baudin was a French voyager, he is the leader of Baudin Expedition who began the voyage in October 1800. He arrived Encounter Bay of Australia on April 1801, afterward he pointed to Sydney and then back home but stopped at Mauritius, as he died of tuberculosis.

His voyage team brought many new species back to France, included extinct King Island Emu (王島鴯鶓) from King Island, Australia and Mascarene Martin (馬島原燕) from Mauritius. One stamp in this set is illustrated Mascarene Martin however not shown in the above envelope.
