In 2nd to 11th of October, the year's largest philatelic exhibition of Portugal was held on Évora, one of main city in the Alentejo area. This event was the 20th philatelic exhibition between Portuguese and Brazilian, in the meantime 2 Portuguese postal administrations Cape Verde and Macao had participated in the exhibition. In these 10 days, Portugal Post designed couple of special postmarks in different themes and the postmark used on 10th of October is Dia do Alentejo (Day of Alentejo / 阿連特茹日). It illustrated a cork tree grows in the field of Alentejo area.

The above first day cover and stamp originally issued on 2007, to illustrate cork industry of Portugal. Cork industry is one of the main industry in Alentejo area. Also Portugal is the world's largest producer and exporter of cork, most of corks are using on plug of wire bottle in worldwide or local souvenirs. This stamp specially printed on thinned cork, it was the first cork stamp in the world, only 23,000 copies were produced and sold out already.

The cover re-postmarked the special cancellation Dia do Alentejo and sent by registered mail to Hongkong on 15th October, the back side of cover affixed two more definitive stamps and postmarked on the day of sending.
